TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – December and January are peak travel times on Florida’s roadways, as motorists travel to holiday celebrations and college football bowl games. Florida 511 (FL511) can help motorists get to and from these events as safely and as efficiently as possible.
FL511 provides camera snapshots on major Florida roads so motorists can see road conditions throughout the state before they leave home for holiday activities or a sporting event. Motorists can connect to the website and the Florida 511 Mobile App for current traffic information such as congestion, incidents, message signs, truck parking availability information and much more. The Florida 511 system can also display traffic speeds information to let motorists know the current flow of traffic on Florida’s highway system and other major metropolitan roadways.
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) encourages motorists to use the FL511 system for their upcoming travels.
There are two major holidays celebrated in December and early January as well as nine college football bowl games scheduled in Florida.
Florida 511 provides traffic information for these major highways below leading to the stadiums:
- December 21: Cheribundi Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowl, FAU Stadium, Boca Raton (I-95, I-75, and Florida’s Turnpike).
- December 23: Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl, Raymond James Stadium, Tampa (I-4 and I-75).
- December 28: Camping World Bowl, Camping World Stadium, Orlando (I-4 and Florida’s Turnpike).
- December 30: Capital One Orange Bowl, Hard Rock Stadium, Miami (I-95 and Florida’s Turnpike).
- January 1: Citrus Bowl, Camping World Stadium, Orlando (I-4 and Florida’s Turnpike).
- January 1: Outback Bowl, Raymond James Stadium, Tampa (I-4 and I-75).
- January 2: TaxSlayer Bowl, TIAA Bank Field, Jacksonville (I-95 and I-10).
- January 18: East-West Shrine Game, Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg (I-4 and I-75).

When requesting information using the voice interaction feature, users of the app can also request a city, county, or roadway and the app will playback all associated events within a specific radius.
