2017 Spring Training MLB/MiLB Toolkit

The State of Florida has played host to Major League Baseball (MLB) teams for spring training camps and a short schedule of preseason exhibition games, affectionately nicknamed the Grapefruit League, since 1914. Before the upcoming 2017 MLB regular season opens on Sunday, April 2, baseball fans can crisscross the southern half of the Sunshine State to watch 15 teams in 13 cities prep for a chance to play in the World Series in late October.

Local traffic and long travel distances for both locals and visitors mean baseball fans should plan their trips to the ballpark before leaving to arrive safely before the first pitch. The Florida Department of Transportation’s Florida 511 Spring Training Toolkit provides resources that encourage fans to use the Florida 511 Traveler Information System to do just that.

The toolkit includes suggested social media posts, newsletter content and public service announcements for use leading up to the opening of spring training camps in mid-February and the exhibition game slate a week later.

Please feel free to share the material on any of your platforms and with your network. Be sure to subscribe to any of the 13 statewide, regional or roadway-specific Florida 511 Twitter feeds to provide your followers with up-to-the-minute game-day traffic information for roads around your favorite team’s ballpark.
