Take Off Safely for the Ford Lauderdale Air ShowMay 1, 2017
TALLAHASSEE — Before looking to the skies at the Ford Lauderdale Air Show, attendees should check roadway conditions with the Florida Department of Transportation’s Florida 511 Traveler Information System.
The weekend air show returns to Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, May 6 and Sunday, May 7. Motorists can arrive safely and with fewer delays by checking the interactive road map on FL511.com for real-time traffic information in English or Spanish, including congestion, crashes, closures, construction, traffic speeds and more. Traffic camera views along I-95, I-595 and Florida’s Turnpike are available on the website for travelers to view conditions on roads around their destination.
Before heading home or to a hotel, motorists can check the free Florida 511 mobile app, available on Google Play or the Apple App Store, to see conditions on their planned route. Drivers also can select an alternate route.
Travelers can register on the website or mobile app for a free My Florida 511 personalized services account to create door-to-door routes from their house or hotel to the beach, restaurants and other favorite destinations. Each route includes travel time estimates, traffic incident information, and the ability to set up custom email or text alerts.
Additional ways to receive traffic information from Florida 511 include calling 511 toll-free from any phone in the state and following one or more of the statewide, regional or roadway-specific Twitter feeds (#FL511) including @FL511_Southeast, @FL511_Turnpike, @FL511_I95 and @FL511_95Express.
FDOT encourages all drivers to visit the Florida 511 website before leaving or have a passenger check the mobile app to avoid using a phone while driving.
